Breast Augmentation (Breast Prosthesis-Breast Silicone)
Breasts are undoubtedly one of the most crucial aspects in the feminine appearance of the body. Breast augmentation is a common surgical procedure that increases the size and shape of the breasts. The breasts can be augmented using breast implants, fat transfer or both of them combined (also known as the hybrid breast augmentation).
Breast implants could be placed under the breast tissue or pectoral muscle and both of these methods bring several pros and cons. There’s also a dual-plane placement option, in which some of the implant is placed under the muscle, while some part of it remains under the breast tissue. All of these options should be discussed before the surgery to decide which option will provide the best results for the patient.
There are many options to choose from when it comes to the breast implants. Different sizes, different shapes and different textures ensure the most optimal results are achieved. In terms of shape, most commonly preferred implants are round implants and teardrop shaped implants which alter how the breasts look when the person is standing up straight.
There are several different locations that could be used to insert the implants into the body. The one that I prefer is inframammary incision (using the natural breast fold). This incision is the most versatile and all types of breast implants can be inserted through this incision. It offers optimal visualization when performing breast augmentation. It also heals very well, eventually leaving an imperceptible scar that falls in a natural skin fold. Any acute complications can be managed through an inframammary incision, and although infrequent, revisions are also more precisely performed through this incision.
Silicone Breast Implants are currently the most reliable method to achieve a size augmentation on the breasts. It’s fast, safe and you can see a noticable size augmentation in just one procedure.
For those who don’t want a silicone implant, there’s also a fat injection option. In this option, fat is removed from the other parts of the body using Vaser Lipo and microAire, and it’s injected in and around the breast to achieve a natural breast augmentation. The major downside of this method is that you need at least 2, ideally 3 sessions to achieve a considerable size increase and there must be at least 6 months in between those sessions.
The most ideal option is the hybrid breast augmentation. In this option, a small to medium size silicone implant is inserted and the fat is used to conceal the edges of the implant and round out the contour. This offers a substantial size increase and also smoothens out the transitions to help make it look more subtle and natural.
POST-OP
- This procedure has a downtime of 3 days. After 3 days, the patient may return to their social life and work life.
- It requires an overnight stay at the hospital.
- A medical compression garment is worn for 3 weeks.
