Breast Lift (Mastopexy) Surgery In Turkey

Breast Lifting

Changes that time does to the breast

After losing weight or pregnancy, changes in the shape of the breast occur due to relaxation of the breast skin and breast tissues. And also Loosening of the ligaments hanging the breast. The nipple moves downwards. The fullness of the upper part of the nozzle decreases and becomes flat. The breast starts to spread outwards.

In those who do not use a bra, even if there is no birth or weight loss, the above-mentioned changes as a result of the effect of gravity on breast tissue will be seen later and less noticeably.

What are the treatment methods for breast sagging?

There is currently no non-surgical method to correct sagging of the breast. No benefit has been shown from externally applied creams, massage or chest muscle studies. Breast lift surgery (breast recovery) breast tissue is not removed; It is an operation where the tissues are recovered up and the breast is restored to its original state. Mastopexy techniques, remaining scars, and post-operative process are similar to breast reduction surgery.

breast lift surgery is performed when Breast size is normal but the breast is sagging.

Breast lift with prosthesis should be applied if there is severe volume loss in the breast tissue.

With the sagging.

Degree of breast sagging

1st Degree (Slight) Sagging: The nipple is still above the bottom of the nipple, but it is 1 cm below where it should be.

2nd Degree (Middle) Sagging: The nipple is almost in line with the lower nipple curvature. The nipple is 1-3 cm below where it should be.

3rd Degree (Severe) Sagging: The nipple is facing the feet and is low below the level of the nipple fold. The nipple is more than 3cm below where it should be.

Corrected for surgical treatment of breast sagging

The aim of breast lift operations;

Shape the mammary gland

Removing the excess skin

To bring the nipple to the position it should be.

Nowadays, when the sagging of the breast is resolved, the excess of the breast skin and sagging of the mammary gland are considered as different elements of the same problem. as the breast skin is removed as necessary, the breast tissue is separated from the breast skin and reshaped. And the result is that the breast tissue is shaped as desired without creating tension on the breast skin. In this technique, there is only a perpendicular incision down the nipple, unless the breast volume is large and the sagging level is advanced. However, in case that there is excess skin an L or inverse T can be used. Since the skin of the breast is not stretched and the incision length is small, the scar due to the surgery goes down to an almost unnoticeable level after 1 year. but, the specificity of the scars may vary depending on the age, genetics and structural characteristics of the skin. Due to the technique applied, postoperative breast shape may not look very good in the early period. Because the breast gland is shaped as it hangs higher than normal, the nipple might appear to be facing down. But in 3-4 months, when the mammary gland goes down due to gravity, the nipple will be positioned as required. The new breast shape is permanent for a long time. If the patient gains or loses weight, gives birth or does not use a bra, sagging of the breast is inevitable. With this technique, a breast that has spread outward over time and facing outward, the base of the breast can be narrowed and fullness can be added on the inner side of the breast. In addition, a fullness can be added as well as desired in the upper half of the breast.

Surgical incisions

one of the problems in breast lift operations is the scars on the breast. Unfortunately, the incision remains unchanged even if the ratio changes from one person to another. There is no such thing as an incision with no scars. These scars can sometimes be found very uncomfortable by some people, even if they are too faint to be seen unless looked too carefully. a patient who sees breast sagging as an aesthetic problem and thinks that there will be a larger aesthetic problem that remains on the breast. should not have surgery done. Because, according to some, this means correcting one problem and creating another problem. However, if the patient is very uncomfortable with the sagging of the breast and ready for an acceptable scar, they will be happy after the surgery.

Breast lifting is an operation with flap (separating a tissue from its block and moving it to a different place) For this reason, it is very important for smokers to quit before and after surgery, so that the blood circulation of the already sensitive tissue is impaired and tissue death does not occur.
In addition, patients should stop taking aspirin, contraceptive pill, vitamin E, etc. 10 days in advance to minimize the risk of postoperative bleeding and should not use it for 1 week unless the doctor recommends otherwise.

Although the channels that give milk during surgery are affected, the function of giving milk is never completely lost.
Breast lift surgery takes about 3 hours. If a silicone prosthesis is used, the operation time is 3-4 hours. It is performed under general anesthesia. You can leave the hospital on the same day or the next day. Drains can be used. No serious pain after surgery. The dressing that is placed during the surgery is firstly opened after 2-3 days. The sutures are removed after 15 days because they are subcutaneous. After the sutures have been taken, a special bra should be used for breast surgeries for at least 1 month.
patients may return to their normal life the day after surgery and return to work life 3-4 days, with the dressings. However, my advice is to spend at least 1 week after surgery. After 15 days, the patient may start to exercise such as walking. And for sports using the chest muscle, patients should wait up to 3 months.

Occasionally, undesirable conditions such as infection and Hematoma due to bleeding may occur after breast lift surgery just like all surgeries. Tissue death may also occur in the nipple, especially in smokers. And There might be loss of sensation in the nipple in varying proportions depending on the technique used.
