The cartilage folds that give shape to the earlobe may develop inadequately and appear non-existent and no fold is visible in the upper part of the ear. Even if the earlobe curves are well formed, if the angle between the ear and the scalp is more than necessary, the ears rotate forward and look like scoops from the opposite perspective. These two conditions can be seen together or separately.
The relevant problem is corrected during cosmetic ear surgery, that is, if the cartilage fold is insufficient, the fold is formed; if the angle between the head and ear is excessive, the angle is narrowed by laying the ears on the scalp. Sometimes both procedures can be done together.
