Neck Lift (Platysmaplasty) Surgery in Turkey

Platysmaplasty

Platysmaplasty

There are muscles that run under your jawline and chin, they run like a band. They are referred as “platysma” muscles. With age, these muscles separate from each other causing “platysma bands”. Platysmaplasty is an operation to bring back these separated muscles. Plastysmaplasty surgery can be a part of the neck lift or a separate surgery all together. If there is too much sagging and excess skin on the neck area, additional neck lift might be needed.

How is Platysmaplasty performed?

In a Platysmaplasty surgery, surgeon makes an incision beneath the chin to bring back the platysma muscles together to correct the signs of sagging underneath the chin. Platsymaplasty incision is under the neck. The surgeon starts from the mandibular border and puts stiches until inferior border of the lift. If needed, the surgeon can cut several centimeters from the platysma muscle. It is done by putting mattress sutures. By sewing the platysma muscles together, the neck can be slimmed posteriorly and superiorly. If you want to address the bands in your neck area, you need to do platysmaplasy surgery. It can be done together with a neck liposuction surgery if needed.

How long is the recovery period?

This varies depending on the procedure that is accompanied with. The recovery process usually takes around a week.

What is the difference between a Neck Lift and Platysmaplasty Prodecures?

Neck Lift is a broad procedure to completely rejuvenate the neck area. On the contrary, plastysmaplasty is a specific procedure to correct the loose bands around the neck due to stretched out platysma bands. Platysmaplasty can be done together with a neck lift or alone. For a plastsmaplasty surgery, the incision point is under the chin. On the other hand, for a neck lift surgery the incision is done from the front of the ear until the hairline.
